As some of you may know, Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge was initially established in 1937 to provide and protect wintering and nesting habitat for water fowl and other migratory birds.
The refuge hosts an endangered species/wildlife tour the first Saturday of every month, until April. The next tour is scheduled for Saturday, December 5. Tours begin at 9:45 a.m. in front of the Joseph R. Skeen Visitor Center. Be prepared for light walking. Full Story »

Several years ago, Dr. LaNelle Witt, of Roswell, compiled information on four local tales. She said legends, myths and stories of the supernatural share similarities in many cultures. Stories from the Hispanic culture, particularly, are akin to ancient Greek tragedies, Witt said. Full Story »
