Goddard head football coach Sam Jernigan wasn’t able to learn much about his team’s opponent from last week. Fortunately, he’s more concerned with what his team is doing, as opposed to what Alamogordo is doing.
“You’d like to see two or three films, so you can kind of get a feel for them, but it’s just too early,” Jernigan said. “So I just try to spend my time thinking about my guys and what we need to do to get better.
“And that’s typically what we do; just try to get us better because that’s what we can actually control.”
Make no mistake, though, Jernigan is well aware of what his team faces when they take the field on Friday to square off against Alamogordo (0-1) at Tiger Stadium at 7 p.m.
“We watched them against Clovis last week; typical big like they always are and fast like they always are,” Jernigan said about the Tigers. “A little scatback back there that’s quicker than a danged cat. ... And they always have some big people up front.”
