Holiday burglaries abound

•Police responded to a report of a shooting at an occupied dwelling in the 2400 block of North Garden Avenue. According to the report, seven shots were fired at approximately 4 a.m., Sunday. A front door and exterior wall on the victim’s house were struck. Damage was estimated at $600.

•Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of East Fifth Street. According to the report, an unknown person fired shots at the victim’s vehicle around 9 p.m., Friday, hitting the driver’s side door and mirror. Several 9mm gun casings were found in the street near the intersection of East Fifth Street and Orchard Avenue.

•Police responded to a report of commercial burglary at the Town & Country Food Store, 2010 SE Main St. According to the report, an unknown person entered the store at about 2:30 a.m., Monday, by shattering the glass on the front door. An undetermined amount of liquor was reported missing.

•Police responded to a report of aggravated residential burglary in the 1600 block of North Elm Avenue. According to the report, an unknown person entered the home by forcing open a garage door, sometime between Wednesday and Thursday. The victims returned home to discover the house had been ransacked. Three firearms, a TV and two jewelry boxes were among the items reported missing.

•Police responded to a report of aggravated residential burglary in the 600 block of South Plains Park Drive. According to the report, an unknown person entered the home sometime between 9 and 10:30 p.m., Sunday. Firearms worth $1,400, electronics worth $350 and cash totaling $350 were reported missing.

•Police responded to a report of burglary in the 600 block of South Michigan Avenue. According to the report, an unknown person entered the home sometime between 3:30 and 6:45 p.m., Sunday, possibly through an unlocked door. A 42-inch plasma TV was among the items reported missing.

•Police responded to a report of burglary in the 800 block of West Summit Street. According to the report, an unknown person entered the home through an unlocked window, sometime between Sunday and Monday. Four flat-screen TVs valued at $1,750 were reported missing.
