Elks plan 10-year Sept. 11 memorial

Community members are coming together and paying respects to fallen soldiers and U.S. civilians killed since Sept. 11, saying they plan to host a special memorial in 2011 on the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

The Elks Lodge of Roswell announced Wednesday its plans to set up a memorial of thousands of flags slated to be displayed at New Mexico Military Institute during the Sept. 11, 2011, commemoration. The event, Field of Honor, is being co-hosted by the Colonial Flag Foundation.
