Mike Morrow, who believed that Roswell needed a no-kill animal shelter, died last Wednesday night of a heart attack at age 52. According to his family, he died for the passion that consumed him: his love for animals.

“The amount of work it took to keep the animals ... it killed him,” said stepdaughter Elsie Greer, days after his death.

The children of Morrow’s life partner, Pat Rupe, have determined that they are going to keep their stepfather’s dream alive. Sara Fleming was 6 years old when Morrow came into their life, and his love for animals was something that defined him to her.
