The Federal Building in Roswell was partially evacuated Thursday morning when sudden illness struck Social Security Administration personnel. An employee came to work sick with a known medical condition and was transported to the emergency room for treatment. Federal Building closed, 8 hospitalized

The Federal Building was barricaded by 10 a.m. on Thursday with Roswell fire engines blocking West Fifth Avenue, North Richardson Avenue and West Sixth Street, as fire department officials investigated an incident of sudden illness in the Social Security Administration department.

A 911 call was made from inside the building, after the first employee collapsed. 

According to Fire Chief Jim Salas, eight employees in the Social Security Administration department became ill. Six of them were transported to the emergency room.
