Firefighters with the Midway Fire Department traveled to Smeal Fire Apparatus in Snyder, Neb., last weekend to pick up their new fire engine.
The 1,500-gallon pumper, which was purchased about a year ago, arrived on Monday. The engine is built on a Freightliner M2 112 frame and will be the department’s new first-out response vehicle.
The new engine cost taxpayers $367,634, and was paid for with a one-quarter of 1 percent gross receipts tax designated for firefighter apparatus replacement.
